Camping with Summer

Camping with Summer

One of the most fun things I got to do in Arizona was meet my friend Summer! Summer and I have been friends for a long time on the internet. She has a blog at Dreams of Trees. Our parents talked and decided that we could meet. Summer and I decided to camp in her backyard. Luckily, I had packed my tent!

 Camping with Summer

Summer's yard was full of tall trees. We climbed them and pretended we were wild kids, living on our own in the wilderness. Both of us have a dream of getting to go backcountry camping. We pinky-promised each other that someday we'd go on an epic camping trip in one of the national parks.

Camping with Summer

I had such a great time with Summer! I loved that she had a big yard. I live in New York City, where my family doesn't have a yard. Our apartment building has a big courtyard, but kids aren't allowed to play in it or climb the trees. I was so envious of Summer- it's like she has her own private Central Park. Awesome pants.

Summer has a big dog, named Tatlo. I was a little afraid of him when I first saw him, but he is very gentle. He is so smart too- he stays right by Summer without even needing a leash! I was envious of Tatlo too- my parents say it's not fair to have a dog in a New York City apartment. I told Summer how my cat, Chaika, ran away. She gave me a hug and told me she could imagine how sad she'd be if Tatlo ran away.

Camping with Summer

I loved climbing all the trees in Summer's yard. I really want to move to live in a place with a big yard sometime. I'd love to get to climb trees every day!

Camping with Summer

Not only does Summer have many climbing trees in her yard, she also has a fort! I would absolutely LOVE to have a fort. I told Summer that if her parents ever need a part-time daughter, they can sign me right up.

In this picture, Summer is trying to give me a piggyback ride. We both kept falling over and laughing. There is nothing better than spending a day with a good friend. I hope I get to go back to Arizona again someday, so Summer and I can hang out again. Of course, I invited her to come to New York City. New friends are great fun. Have you made any new friends this summer?

    1. Mel,
Summer's overalls are Kit's overalls from American Girl.

  3. Hey Inky!

Would you believe my backyard has no climbing trees? We have trees, but none with branches low enough for climbing. Ugh! Summer is so lucky to have climbing trees AND a fort!

I'm so glad you got to meet up with Summer in Arizona. She seems like such a fun girl to get to know!

I haven't made any new friends lately, unless you count the girls I met at the American Girl store in Virginia.

    I miss you!

    1. Hi Sophie,

What! No climbing trees? That totally stinks. I would LOVE to have climbing trees and a fort. We have a big fig tree, some pine trees, and a Japanese Maple in our courtyard, but I'm not allowed to climb on them. It stinks!

      I miss you too!

  4. Bonsoir, Inky!
I'm glad that you had a fun time with Summer. Your adventures looked like they were so much fun. I think it would be fun to walk through the woods, but Lilly is too afraid to come with me. The most she does outside is tan, which isn't very exciting...plus, I burn. I don't tan.
I do like to spend time outside, though. I like to go on walks with my friends and ride my bike.
I kind-of made a new friend- Taylor. I don't know if I'd consider her to be a friend yet, but we've been hanging out a lot.

I love camping in the woods. It's so beautiful- but Arizona was really very hot. It's funny, because New York is hot too, but in a different way.

I'm excited to hear more about you and Taylor. Making new friends is fun.

  5. Dia duit, Inky!!!

You and Summer look like you had so much fun together! I can see why you were afraid of Tatlo at first--he's almost as big as a wolf! It's too bad that you aren't allowed to have a dog. I don't know what I'd do without Coconut!

I'm so sorry to hear about your cat! I hope it comes back soon!

That fort looks awesome! If I had a fort like that in my backyard, I'd play in it all day!

Hopefully Summer visits New York soon!

    1. Hi Saoirse!

Isn't Tatlo huge? He's enormous! I love dogs. Luckily Tatlo is very friendly despite being so big. He really led the way and I had so much fun playing fetch with him.

Thanks for your good wishes about Chaika! I really hope she comes home soon too!

    3. Hi Inky,
I posted a test comment today and it came on, so you should be able to comment now. I think that Wordpress doesn't let people comment on the first day of the blog for some reason. But they are on now :)
