Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Happy St. Patrick's Day Inky!

Hello my friends! Today is St. Patrick's Day. I am not Irish (I was born in Russia), but my mom is!  Every year my grandma sends us a package full of fun goodies to celebrate.  This year, I received Girl Scout cookies (yum!), crayons, and Celtic-themed coloring books. Thank you Grandma!

I also received a small package from the UK! What could be in it?

Happy St. Patrick's Day Inky!

Inside the package was a shamrock card with a lovely ribbon and badge, just for me! My friends Audra and Charlie at the Bruton School sent it. Thank you girls!

Happy St. Patrick's Day Inky!

Of course I put on the badge right away! It's right on my green shirt. I've heard that you should wear green on St. Patrick's Day so no one pinches you. I hope I don't get pinched!

Do you celebrate St. Patrick's Day? Are you of Irish descent? How do you celebrate? Happy St. Patrick's Day to all my friends!

Meet My Friends: Iris

Iris's new hat!

Do you recognize this face? It's my friend Iris! I'm finally starting my series on my friends near and far.  Iris is one of my oldest friends so I knew she needed to be first.

Iris and I met in 2006, back when I lived in Wisconsin.   We went to the same ballet school.  In fact, Iris even lived with me for a few months after I moved to New York City! She has a really cute dog- a chihuahua named Mulder! Mulder came to live with my family as well.

After we had settled into New York City life, Iris moved to England! She was a student at a prestigious ballet school that required her to live on the campus. I really missed her, but she did come back to visit occasionally.

During Iris's time in England, we e-mailed and chatted all the time, often about our ballet studies. However, I decided to stop dancing because it was too stressful for me. Imagine my surprise when Iris also stopped dancing! She has some issues with her hearing that were making it more and more difficult to hear music.  She was devastated.  Iris is an amazing dancer- definitely the best in our school back in Wisconsin! That's why she was picked to attend ballet boarding school in the UK.

So now Iris is living with her family again, back in the United States. They live in NYC now too, so I've gotten to see Iris much more often.  I know she is facing a lot of heartache over having to leave ballet school, so I am actively working to be the best friend that I can be to her.

Hmm, what else can I tell you about Iris? She loves stuffed animals, Thai food (especially pad see euw and massaman curry!), and being silly with her friends. Her hero is Misty Copeland, the ballerina. She loves dogs, especially little ones!

I'm so happy to have Iris as a friend. She is my oldest friend, since she has known me since I lived in Wisconsin- even before I met Violet (who I will introduce soon).

Who is your oldest friend? What are they like? Tell me! :)

Show Me Your Riffs!

Show Me Your Riffs

Hello my friends! What do you think of my new shirt? It was made especially for me in the style of one of my mama's favorite Sleater-Kinney shirts.  (Sleater-Kinney is my favorite band!)

Do you have a favorite band? What is it? And what's your favorite of their songs?
